Job Overview

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is a leading transportation provider in the United States, operating a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail across a 2,200 square mile service region.

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronic Systems Maintenance Technician to join our City Transit Division team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair electronic systems on rail vehicles assigned to the Woodland Electronic Repair Shop.
  • Provide technical support to all rail locations and collaborate with SEPTA's engineering department on electrical and electronic projects.
  • Troubleshoot and repair analog, digital, and microprocessor-controlled electronic systems down to component level.
  • Interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests using various equipment and tools.
  • Operate computer-controlled Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Repair open conductors on multi-layered printed circuit boards and test high power semiconductor modules.
  • Perform failure analysis on electronic systems and recommend improvements to increase their reliability.
  • Develop procedures for testing and calibrating electronic systems and design diagnostic test equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of electronic technical school, associate degree in electronics, or military electronics-technical training.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Specialized knowledge and training in handling static-sensitive devices, interpreting electrical and electronic schematics, and using complex measuring instruments.
  • Ability to pass written and performance testing as required.
Working Conditions

Electronic Systems Maintenance Technicians work primarily in the electronic repair shop and occasionally at other rail vehicle locations.
