About the Role

We are seeking a skilled PET/CT Technologist to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing and reformatting CT examinations to create high-quality images for diagnosis and interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Image Acquisition and Quality Control: Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification on all images.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Demonstrate competency in performing all computerized tomography procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Patient Care and Communication: Greet patients, obtain medical history, and enter information into our computer system. Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires.
  • Procedure Execution: Scan patients according to guidelines, observe vital signs during examinations, and maintain CPR certification.
  • Quality Assurance and Accreditation: Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the completion of the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years.
  • Positive Patient Experience: Demonstrate a positive patient experience by sharing information, providing knowledge about procedures, and ensuring patients are aware of follow-up steps and requirements.
  • Quality Image Submission: Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition. Perform quality assurance on images and equipment, and demonstrate competency in utilizing systems.
  • Decision-Making and Teamwork: Make authoritative decisions after contemplating various courses of action. Contribute to efficient outpatient operations, maximizing productivity of assigned modality.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent, ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) CT certified.
  • Communication and Technical Skills: Ability to follow oral and written instructions, communicate with patients, visitors, and employees, and adequately use our department's computerized system and associated devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine, 2+ years of experience in computed tomography.
Physical Demands
  • Standing and Walking: Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Assisting Patients: Must be able to assist patients weighing 300 pounds or more and place them in appropriate positions for equipment operation.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review images.
