Lead Civil Engineer for Roadway Projects

Company Overview:

Janssen & Spaans Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Roadway Project Engineer to enhance our engineering team. This position is pivotal in delivering engineering excellence, where you will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, tracking, and monitoring tasks to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering plans that comply with established codes and standards.
  • Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GeoPak for modeling road designs.
  • Ensure adherence to AASHTO codes and INDOT design manual requirements.
  • Oversee and mentor technicians and other engineers.
  • Assist in the creation of detailed plan sets and participate in project team meetings.
  • Prepare project specifications and estimates in line with client expectations.
  • Meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Manage project documentation, including reports and meeting minutes.
  • Maintain active Professional Engineering registrations.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Communicate project updates and necessary adjustments to clients.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as training progresses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field is essential.
  • Must possess a valid PE license in Indiana or be able to obtain it within six months.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AASHTO and DOT standards is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is necessary.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with Department of Transportation projects is preferred.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and effective listening skills.
