As a key member of the Oncology department, the Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for the precise selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized fields such as oncology, cardiology, and nuclear medicine. This role demands a subject matter expert in pharmacy practices, providing essential guidance to clinical leadership and pharmacy teams.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and review medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve any potential or actual drug-related issues.
- Advise on formulary alternatives when necessary.
- Prepare and dispense medications ensuring accurate delivery to patients.
- Deliver drug information and educational support to both medical staff and patients.
- Engage with physicians and other healthcare professionals to facilitate optimal patient care.
- Supervise technical staff involved in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Participate in academic activities, including serving as a mentor for pharmacy students.
- Provide coverage for pharmacy needs as required.
- Offer patient counseling when necessary.
Licensure: Must possess a valid pharmacist credential from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy prior to employment.
Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy is required.
