Job Details:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Act as the primary point of contact for customers. Assist in establishing and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs. Ensure merchandise is stocked adequately. Perform additional duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork while safeguarding company assets.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Unload delivery trucks.
  • Follow company procedures to receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in the stockroom or move directly to the sales floor.
  • Construct merchandise displays.
  • Restock merchandise; rotate and face products on shelves.
  • Restock recovered merchandise.
  • Assist customers in locating products.
  • Manage cardboard disposal and maintain cleanliness of store floors; clean restrooms and stockrooms.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Greet customers warmly.
  • Operate cash registers and flatbed scanners to itemize and total customer purchases; bag merchandise.
  • Collect payments from customers and provide change.
  • Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness at the front end of the store and assist in setting up sidewalk displays when necessary.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices.
  • Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to perform cash register functions.

WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
