Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance for generator sets, including overhaul and repair of power generation equipment, internal combustion engines, and associated systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and service Power Generators at the unit, direct support, and general support maintenance level.
  • Overhaul power generator components, including starters, alternators, generators, fuel injectors, voltage regulators, switches, control circuits, and other critical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting and maintaining fuel tanks, fuel burners, and electrical wiring.
  • Transport equipment, tools, and fluids to and from work sites, and operate and maintain equipment, tools, and safety devices designed to lift, move, transport, repair, inspect, measure, or protect.
  • Prepare service documentation and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • May provide work direction and training to junior crew members.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in power generation equipment repairs.
  • Journeyman status per Union rules.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Strong background in maintenance of reciprocating engines and hands-on experience with troubleshooting and maintenance for generator sets.
  • Thorough knowledge of methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines and diesel engine-driven electric generators.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, panels, and meters.
  • Knowledge of diesel fuel requirements, including filter change schedules.
  • Automated transfer switch and switchgear experience desired.
  • Verbal and written communications skills to effectively supervise employees and communicate with other company and customer personnel.
  • Qualify for and maintain a government Top Secret security clearance.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to changing weather conditions, temperature fluctuations, and potential hazards such as gas fumes, falls, electric shock, and burns. The ability to work in cramped positions, lift, pull, and push weights up to 100 pounds is required.
