Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating patients.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze patient samples in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including instruments and software, to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Perform quality control checks and take corrective action as necessary to ensure the integrity of laboratory results.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve issues and interpret laboratory results within the context of patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient samples, test results, and quality control data.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques, technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and excellence in laboratory practice.
- Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
- WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) within 90 days of hire.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is preferred.
- Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician or in a related laboratory setting is highly desirable.
The Medical Laboratory Technician will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, and other laboratory staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical and Environmental Demands- Ability to lift, move, and carry equipment and supplies.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Exposure to strong odors, chemicals, and biological agents.
- Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
