Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer to join our client's team. This role is pivotal in the design and development of advanced embedded firmware solutions that drive high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality embedded firmware for various systems, primarily utilizing C and Assembly languages to facilitate serial communications and complex computations.
  • Create and enhance data processing tools and software, primarily in Python and/or LabVIEW, to validate hardware and firmware, as well as to control testing setups.
  • Ensure software is maintainable and supportable by managing versions in GitLab, documenting code, and providing technical assistance to cross-functional teams.
  • Engage in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, while promoting best practices in version control and CI/CD.
  • Collaborate with assembly and calibration technicians, as well as field customers, to troubleshoot issues and enhance system performance.
  • Travel may be required to support product testing in various locations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware or embedded systems development.
  • Proficiency in designing firmware for embedded systems, particularly with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
  • Strong skills in C/C++, along with experience in assembly language and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or ThreadX.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and USB.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a collaborative mindset, capable of effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with wireless communication standards such as BLE and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with hardware interface technologies including ADCs, DACs, and PWM.
  • Understanding of software development best practices, Agile methodologies, and version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of embedded system security practices, including encryption and secure boot processes.
