We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections on school buses.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with mobile emergency services as needed.
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
- At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- Possess a mechanic's tool set.
- Willingness to participate in ASE certification program; training, testing, and bonuses provided.
- $26.50 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
- $3,000 Sign on Bonus (conditions apply).
- An additional $.25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain.
- Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
- Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work.
