The position involves managing fast-paced, technically intricate design/build projects within the federal sector.

The ideal candidate will utilize advanced engineering methodologies, make informed decisions regarding engineering challenges, and represent the organization in resolving critical issues or negotiating with key engineers and officials from other entities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct calculations to ascertain building dead, live, wind, and seismic loads, and identify structural systems to support gravity and resist lateral forces.
  • Assess member stresses and dimensions using structural analysis software, verifying results through manual calculations.
  • Design concrete foundations, retaining walls, steel frameworks, and masonry structures.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers from HVAC, plumbing, and electrical disciplines to ensure architectural requirements align with structural systems.
  • Serve as the Lead Structural Engineer on projects, providing technical direction to designers and junior engineers.
  • Manage projects of varying sizes, with an emphasis on those of greater scope and technical complexity.
  • Draft construction specifications.
  • Engage in as-built drawing efforts.
  • Offer technical support throughout the construction phase for all activities.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of design documents.
  • Foster a culture of safety and a commitment to design excellence.
  • Complete Quality Management Training and adhere to the program, promoting a culture of quality in all work aspects.
  • Collaborate directly with clients to define project requirements and deliver suitable solutions that meet specified needs within established budgets and timelines.
  • Salary expectations: $125k-$150k

Familiarity with RISA or STAADPro software is advantageous.

  • Experience with RevitStructure is a plus.
  • Preference for candidates with design-build or alternative delivery experience.
  • Experience in both CONUS and OCONUS projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of progressive collapse and blast design is a plus.
  • NCEES model law SE and/or an SE license in a western state such as CA, WA, OR, or AK is preferred.
  • DoD experience is not required but is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in high seismic regions is preferred.

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design.
  • Familiarity with UFCs (Unified Facilities Criteria).
  • Experience with UFGS (Unified Facilities Guide Specifications).
  • Knowledge of ATFP (Anti-Terrorism Force Protection) and the PDC (Protective Design Center).
  • Relevant experience with NGB, VA, GSA, DoS, USCG, and others depending on project type.
  • Understanding of AISC 341, Chapter 18 AISC 18.
  • Experience as Engineer of Record on significant design projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Professional Structural Engineer License.
