Job Summary

The University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Counselor to join our team. As an Academic Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting the educational and career goals of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess student needs and develop individualized plans to ensure academic success
  • Facilitate communication between administrators, faculty, staff, and students to promote program and service awareness
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in our database system
  • Prepare reports summarizing program data and accomplishments
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with target schools, colleges, and community organizations
  • Recruit, train, and supervise summer instructors and program staff
  • Develop and implement counseling sessions, workshops, and seminars to support student success
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged youths
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build strong relationships with community partners
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires occasional evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to drive a university vehicle to transport students and staff on occasion.
