Position Overview:
The Early Childhood Program Assistant role is designed for high school students participating in a community service initiative. This position involves supporting the implementation of preschool activities by effectively communicating with the supervising educator and executing a range of assigned responsibilities. Depending on the tasks allocated, the assistant may engage with children in various settings, assist in food preparation and service, ensure safety during transportation, and maintain cleanliness in educational environments. This opportunity is tailored for high school students aspiring to pursue careers in Early Childhood Education and related fields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the educator in facilitating developmental activities for children, focusing on language, cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth, as well as health and safety skills;
- Help maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom environment;
- Observe and assess the needs of children independently;
- Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting and diapering, as required;
- Provide support in securing children in vehicle safety systems;
- Engage physically with children in both indoor and outdoor settings in a safe manner;
- Complete and submit necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner;
- ENSURE CONSTANT SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN to guarantee their safety at all times.

Individuals in this position must possess both close and distance vision and may be required to:
- Occasionally: Walk, climb, balance, taste or smell, drive, work irregular hours, twist at the neck or trunk, read written materials, lift up to 50 pounds;
- Regularly: Stand, sit, use hands for handling or feeling, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and perform repetitive hand motions;
- Frequently: Talk, hear, and lift up to 10 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current high school students enrolled in a community service program with prior experience in childcare preferred.
