Position Overview

The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the surgical team, ensuring that the Operating Room is meticulously prepared prior to surgical procedures. This position is vital for maintaining patient safety throughout the surgical process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation: Ensure the Operating Room is ready and equipped for surgery.
  • Assistance: Provide direct support to the surgeon during procedures.
  • Patient Care: Attend to the needs of patients throughout the surgical experience.
  • Instrument Management: Handle and care for surgical instruments and supplies effectively.
Qualifications
  • Licensure: Must hold BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of scrub experience is required, with a preference for candidates with cardiothoracic experience, particularly in heart and lung transplants.
  • Facility Experience: Previous experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar capacity is essential.
  • Traveler Requirements: Candidates must have a permanent address outside a 50-mile radius of Madison and must be able to float to various units as needed.
  • Education: Completion of a surgical technologist program or equivalent experience is necessary.
  • References: Two professional references from recent supervisors or managers are required.
Work Schedule

Travelers may be assigned to multiple units based on current staffing needs, and shifts will be adjusted accordingly to meet contract obligations.
