Position SummaryThis position is accountable for overseeing the daily functions of an industrial wastewater treatment facility, including all associated equipment and chemical treatment systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and operate the wastewater treatment system to ensure compliance with the facility's LPDES Industrial Wastewater discharge permit.
- Conduct data analysis and sample testing to maintain adherence to regulatory standards.
- Diagnose and repair pumps, drive units, reducers, and valves related to plant operations.
- Interpret equipment manuals to perform necessary maintenance and repairs; plan and execute repair tasks using diagrams and schematics.
- Possess knowledge of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, sedimentation, and chemical reactions to make operational adjustments as needed.
- Calibrate pH probes and document findings in the required logbook. Assist in the calibration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment related to plant operations.
- Effectively communicate any operational issues or malfunctions to the Wastewater Superintendent or Complex Plant Manager.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of all plant operations.
- Complete daily shift logs detailing activities and observations.
- Track chemical inventories, spare parts, and waste disposal processes on a daily basis.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols.
- Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Execute daily housekeeping duties and ensure timely completion of work records.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
- Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment systems.
- Preferred: Wastewater and/or Water Operator Certification.
- Availability to work on a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to read, write, compile, and analyze daily data and reports.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is essential.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
- Team-oriented mindset is crucial.
- Adherence to company GMP and Food Safety procedures is required.
- Compliance with company attendance policies is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Tolerance for extreme temperature variations while performing essential functions.
- Training in lock-out tag-out and safe work practices is necessary.
- Physical capability to bend, stoop, walk, and stand for prolonged periods.
- Ability to work safely from heights and in confined spaces.
- Capacity to lift over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on wet concrete surfaces.
