Cashier Job Description

At Southeast New Mexico College, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cashier to join our Business Office team. As a Cashier, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process a variety of payments and other cash and cash-related transactions, verifying and posting to appropriate accounts.
  • Prepare cash receipts for bank deposit and reconcile cash, check, and credit card receipts daily.
  • Project currency and coin requirements and reorder as necessary.
  • Assist in answering questions and resolving problems related to the position.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
  • Account balancing and cash handling skills.
  • Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
