Job Summary

Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Inova Children's Cardiology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for pediatric or fetal echocardiograms and perform exams according to echo lab protocol.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and/or parents to obtain clinical pediatric cardiology history and/or maternal fetal history/informed consent.
  • Identify errors and take immediate action for corrections, as evidenced by EMR and PACS Systems reports.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of echocardiography principles, theory, anatomy, and congenital cardiac pathology processes.
  • Assist the technical director in obtaining or maintaining IAC accreditation.
  • Act as a preceptor and resource for students and new sonographers.
  • Maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
  • Participate in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities.
  • Participate in professional development activities and meetings.
  • Travel to outside clinic locations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic ultrasound school or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare setting.
  • Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a sonographer or sonographer student.
