Orthopedic Nurse Specialist

At Williamson Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Ortho/Spine department. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time of admission, utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination.
Plan the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes.
Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate for the patient population.
Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.
Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Document accurately and timely.
Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response, and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity, and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitate staff development.
Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
Maintain position-specific qualifications.
Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
Maintain their work areas and personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors, and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
Requirements
Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
Licensed in the State of Tennessee.
BLS within 90 days of hire.
Basic arrhythmia within 6 months of hire.
ACLS within 6 months of hire.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire.
For critical care, AACN, CCRN, or CCP certification within two years of hire.
For Oncology, ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire.
For Adult Emergency Room, at least one year of emergency experience preferred, TNCC preferred, ACLS within 6 months of hire, PALS within 6 months of hire, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire.
For Pediatric Medical Surgical, at least one year of pediatric in-hospital experience preferred, PALS within 6 months of hire, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (8-hour, non-physical training) within 6 months of hire.
For Pediatric Emergency Room, at least one year of pediatric emergency experience preferred, PALS within 6 months of hire, ACLS within 6 months of hire, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (8-hour, non-physical training) within 6 months of hire, and ENPC or TNCC within 6 months of hire.

Standard patient care equipment for services provided.
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently, and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
Equipment: Network Computer System, Omnicell Medication System, Telemetry, Pneumatic Tube System, AT&T Language Line.
Physical Environment
Adult medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from adolescent to > 99 years of age.
Pediatric medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from neonate to 21 years of age.
Critical Care unit with patient population ranging from adolescent to > 99 years of age.
Oncology unit with adult patient population.
Adult emergency department with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to > 99 years of age.
Pediatric emergency department with patient population ranging from neonate to 21 years of age.
Physical Effort
Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.
