Overview
The Produce Manager is accountable for the effective and profitable management of the produce and floral department, adhering to the company's established standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement the weekly sales strategy to maximize revenue.
2. Meet the gross profit targets set by the Produce Merchandising Division.
3. Prepare all necessary produce documentation as required by the Accounting and Merchandising teams.
4. Comply with company protocols regarding weighing, pricing, packaging, and showcasing products.
5. Oversee the unloading of deliveries and manage backroom inventory.
6. Ensure that coolers and freezers are maintained to company specifications.
7. Responsible for effective inventory management.
8. Promote sanitation, safe food handling, security, and adherence to company policies.
9. Provide assistance to customers and foster positive customer relations.
10. Collaborate with the Store Manager to assess meat operations and plan ahead to meet company goals.
11. Manage the scheduling of department staff.
12. Ensure departmental operations comply with company standards as evaluated by audits.
13. Clearly communicate performance expectations to team members, holding them accountable for productivity and conducting regular performance reviews.
14. Take an active role in training and mentoring staff, while developing a succession plan for high-potential employees.
15. Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
1. Possess a friendly and approachable demeanor.
2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
3. Capable of lifting 50 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. consistently.
4. Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
5. Familiarity with produce operations is essential.
6. Experience in supervising and developing team members.
7. Willingness to learn various tasks and technical aspects of the role.
8. Strong communication and customer service skills.
9. Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
