Construction Estimator

Mike McClung Construction Co. is a leading heavy civil construction firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support the estimation process for large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior estimators, learning and applying industry best practices, including cost analysis, material takeoffs, and bid preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, concrete, asphalt, and other heavy civil components.
• Support the preparation of project estimates, bids, and budgets under the guidance of senior estimators.
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost analysis.
• Research and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
• Assist in the preparation of pre-bid documentation, including schedules and scope clarifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience in the construction industry).
• 1-2 years of experience in construction, preferably in estimating or a project support role.
• Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with estimating software (experience with HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD is preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment under pressure and tight deadlines.
