About the Role

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes, as well as specimen collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain specimens from inpatients and outpatients, adhering to proper identification protocols and techniques to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Support patient testing by performing waived testing, loading analyzers, and performing lab functions as needed.
  • Adhere to OSHA and ThedaCare department policies for specimen collection and handling to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Provide training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent.
  • Perform specimen-related computer functions with accuracy and speed, including entering physician's orders, processing cancelations, and entering add-on tests.
  • Enter, activate, and/or review physician orders in the system with accuracy for patient safety and quality.
  • Maintain supplies and assist with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies to perform patient care responsibilities.
  • Perform special specimen collections to support patient testing and follow up as required by law.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Completion of BLS Certification will be required for candidates working at ThedaCare Medical Center - Wild Rose
Work Environment

This role requires working in a medical setting with high risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, and biohazardous materials. You will be required to move freely and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.

This is a 0.8 FTE position, working 32 hours per week, with a schedule of 4 days/ varying days per week, 8 hour shifts between 6:30am - 4 pm, and every 6th Saturday 8am - 1 pm.
