Behavioral Health Technical Partner

The Technical Partner provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, promoting a safe and healthy environment, and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes.
Essential Job Functions- Deliver Direct and Indirect Patient Care: Provide patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care.
- Perform Patient Care Needs: Assist patients with activities of daily living, respond to call lights, and collect, document, and report patient care data.
- Interact with Patients and Families: Make pertinent observations, report and document patient behaviors, and interact with patients and families in a timely manner.
- Collect and Document Patient Data: Collect and document patient care data, including vital signs and meal consumption.
- Transport Patients: Transport patients as directed.
- Perform Various Skills: Apply heating pads, set up suction equipment, apply antiembolic hose, and perform other skills as directed.
- Complete Safety Rounds: Complete and document 15-minute safety rounds.
- Assist in Educational Process: Assist in the educational process to promote and maintain health, foster self-care, and improve outcomes.
- Maintain Collaborative Relationship: Maintain a collaborative relationship with other healthcare providers to achieve desired outcomes and assure continuous flow of patient care.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate pertinent information of actual/potential problems to the professional/practical nurse and communicate pertinent information at shift reports and during internal and external transfers.
- Participate in Performance Improvement: Participate in the unit performance improvement activities designed to enhance the quality of patient care and customer services.
- Complete Vital Signs: Complete vital signs on all patients as directed.
- Monitor Equipment: Monitor equipment for functioning and hygiene.
- Document Results: Document results accurately.
- Report Abnormal Vital Signs: Report abnormal vital signs or refusals to the RN.
- Distribute Meals and Snacks: Distribute meals and snacks to patients.
- Accurately Deliver Trays: Accurately deliver trays and clean up.
- Order Dietary Supplies: Order unit-based dietary supplies.
- Monitor Patient Safety: Monitor patient safety on and off the unit.
- Perform Q 15-Minute Patient Monitoring: Perform Q 15-minute patient monitoring and arrange for this to be complete when not on the unit.
- Observe for Unsafe Behavior: Observe for unsafe behavior, increase in agitation of patient, and report to RN.
- Work as a Team Member: Work as a team member in the event of a crisis situation.
- Complete Contraband Check: Complete contraband check and document report results.
- Check Patient Belongings: Check all patient belongings to assure safety and complete all required documentation.
- Facilitate Patient Files and Specimen Transport: Facilitate patient files and specimen transport.
- Carry Charts and Supplies: Carry charts, supplies, specimens, etc., from the behavioral health building to the main hospital.
- Organize Runs to Hospital: Organize runs to hospital to maximize efficient use of time.
- Assist Patients with Care and Activities of Daily Living: Assist patients with care and activities of daily living.
- Direct Physical and Dental Care: Direct physical and dental care of patients to assure hygiene is good and clothes are clean.
- Monitor Elimination: Monitor elimination as indicated.
- Facilitate EKG Testing: Facilitate EKG testing.
- Accurate and Timely Completion of EKG: Accurate and timely completion of EKG as ordered by physician.
- High School Diploma or Higher: High school diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
- Completion of a Nurse Aide or Comparable Program: Completion of a nurse aide or comparable program (such as EMT, Medical Assistant, nursing student with at least one semester of clinical, or EH Technical Partner Training Program).
- Sound Judgment and Problem-Solving Skills: Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to follow directions from other team members, and works independently assigned duties.
- Strong Ability to Communicate Complex Topics: Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Nurse Aide Certification: Nurse aide certification.
- One to Two Years' Experience: One (1) - two (2) years' experience in a similar setting.
- Patient Care Experience: Patient care experience.
- Computer Skills: Computer skills, phlebotomy, EKG experience.
- Current Nursing Student: Current nursing student (with clinical experience).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required.
- Act 33 with Renewal: Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with Renewal: Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with Renewal: Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
- Workplace Violence Prevention: Workplace Violence Prevention (transfer into department must obtain within 30 days).
- No Direct Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
- Incumbent Will Be Scheduled: Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel May Be Expected: Travel may be expected locally between Independence Health locations.
