Position Title: Head Teller

Reports To: Branch Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE10

Supervisory Role: Yes


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head Teller is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while efficiently managing customer transactions. This role entails strict adherence to all operational and security protocols, including compliance and privacy regulations, to ensure the confidentiality of customer information.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist clients with various cash and non-cash transactions, including check cashing, deposits, loan payments, and account inquiries.
  • Manage the cash vault and oversee the operation of each cash drawer.
  • Prepare necessary reports such as unrecovered difference reports and maintain accurate records for auditing purposes.
  • Handle the night drop and ensure daily balancing of Automated Teller Machines.
  • Conduct daily balancing of the vault and cash drawers, assisting in locating discrepancies and reporting them to the Branch Manager as necessary.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized counter area in compliance with bank standards.
  • Secure all negotiable and confidential documents at the end of each day.
  • Perform regular unannounced audits of the vault and cash drawers, documenting findings and reporting any irregularities immediately.
  • Promote the bank's products and services to foster branch growth.
  • Enhance knowledge of banking principles and sales techniques through ongoing training and education.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience handling cash transactions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in the banking sector.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time role with hours aligned to branch operations.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasional travel may be required upon request.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Must be proficient in the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills are advantageous. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business-related information, including company policies.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 10 to 20 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Dexterity for handling cash.
  • Proficient in operating office equipment.
  • Effective communication skills in person and via telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is typical of an office/retail setting, with standard room temperatures and lighting.
