Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Mechanic to join our team at Actalent, a global leader in engineering and sciences services. This role requires the use of basic rigging skills to safely move equipment, precision alignment of rotating equipment, performing mechanical diagnostics, and working on existing equipment in customer facilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Removal and Reinstallation: Safely remove and reinstall equipment such as electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Rigging Skills: Utilize basic rigging skills to safely move equipment on and off foundations and transportation means.
  • Precision Alignment: Perform precision alignment of rotating equipment using dial indicators and laser alignment equipment.
  • Mechanical Diagnostics: Conduct mechanical diagnostics on operational equipment using vibration analysis, physical inspection, and visual examination.
  • In-Place Repairs: Perform in-place repairs and field maintenance on existing equipment in customer facilities.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with end users to assist in determining the cause of mechanical failures and provide proactive solutions.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical environments.
  • Skills: Heavy experience with motors, gearboxes, pumps, etc.. to be in consideration.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial safety environments.
  • Rigging Practices: Knowledge of rigging practices.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for extended periods, bending, stooping, kneeling, using both hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and ability to complete written reports.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: High mechanical aptitude.
