Overview:
The tax department collaborates closely with the controllership team and other essential functions.
As a vital member of a small and welcoming tax team, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly and support the organization in achieving its strategic growth objectives.
This role is crucial, focusing primarily on US income tax issues, including federal and state tax compliance as well as tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Review all federal pro-forma tax returns using Corptax and all relevant supporting documentation.
- Ensure timely review of all federal forms and attachments necessary for the filing of the company's federal consolidation.
- File the company's federal consolidated tax return electronically.
- Oversee the review of state and locality returns prepared by the company or third-party resources.
- Conduct reviews of quarterly federal and state estimated extensions.
- Manage and mentor an income tax associate.
- Assist with information document requests related to federal and state income tax audits.
- Investigate and resolve income tax notices.
- Coordinate tax payments on behalf of the tax department.
- Tax Reporting: Assist with quarterly and annual US GAAP income tax provisions.
- Review the Company’s Income Tax account reconciliations quarterly.
- Examine federal book-tax difference calculations.
- Review deferred tax asset/liability work papers and balances.
- Oversee state tax reporting workpapers.
- Assist in documenting applicable internal tax controls.
- Additional Responsibilities: Support various ad-hoc matters, including cash tax management, business support, and corporate project assistance.
- Drive efficiency and simplicity within the tax function, focusing on process standardization and technology utilization.
- Liaise with external tax advisors on relevant issues.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should be curious, enthusiastic, and enjoy a challenging work environment. They must demonstrate sound judgment and possess the ability to collaborate effectively across various levels within and outside the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, analytical, and a team-oriented individual.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Practical and technical expertise in US federal and state income tax (years of experience preferred).
- Experience in automating income tax processes is a plus.
- A college degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- MS in Taxation and/or CPA certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with SAP/HFM/Corptax/Alteryx is advantageous.
