This role is integral to the laboratory team, focusing on performing a variety of complex histological tasks and immunohistochemical analyses. The Histotechnologist II operates under general supervision, ensuring high standards of laboratory practices and contributing to the advancement of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. General Histology Functions: Independently conduct essential histology tasks, including tissue grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and routine staining procedures.
  2. Complex Histology Procedures: Execute advanced histological techniques such as special stains and immunohistochemical staining with precision.
  3. Highly Complex Functions: Manage intricate histology operations, including antibody titration, protocol troubleshooting, and the development of histochemical tests.
  4. Advanced Techniques: Perform sophisticated procedures like immunofluorescent staining and molecular testing, including in situ hybridization methods.
  5. Instrument Maintenance: Regularly maintain laboratory instruments, identifying and resolving any operational issues to ensure optimal performance.
  6. Quality Improvement: Engage in the evaluation and development of new methodologies and quality enhancement initiatives, while monitoring quality control standards.
  7. Documentation: Accurately assemble and deliver patient case slides and reports to the pathology team.
  8. Storage Management: Organize and maintain the storage of tissue blocks, glass slides, and controls.
