School-Based Health Center Nurse

Holding Tba is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School-Based Health Center Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our Student Health Services department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality health care to students enrolled in our School-Based Health Center.
Key Responsibilities- Health Services Delivery: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for students with minor illnesses and injuries.
- Referral and Collaboration: Refer students to the medical director/nurse practitioner as necessary for further medical/health evaluation, and collaborate with the school nurse to prepare required immunization reports.
- Immunization Management: Assist in checking immunization records of enrolled students, provide immunizations as necessary, and maintain accurate and comprehensive health records.
- Screenings and Follow-up: Conduct screenings (vision, hearing, height, weight, and scoliosis) and other screenings recommended by the medical director/nurse practitioner, and follow up on referrals to other health care providers.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with parents/guardians as necessary concerning the health status of enrolled students, and collaborate with the SBHC medical director/nurse practitioner, school nurse, and other school health care providers to serve as a health resource to school staff and parents.
- Medication Management: Monitor, supervise, and administer medication to enrolled students in accordance with JPPSS policy, and adhere to SBHC confidentiality policy and mandated federal guidelines.
- Equipment and Supply Management: Manage the SBHC medical equipment and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Health Services.
- Education and Certification: Holds and maintains current Registered Nurse licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, and holds and maintains current certification in CPR.
- Experience and Skills: Acquires a minimum of 10 contact hours of continuing education in subjects related to school nursing, and has a minimum of 3 years experience as a Louisiana licensed registered nurse.
- Communication and Analytical Skills: Demonstrates strong communication skills in multiple settings, and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
- Collaborative Management Style: Exhibits a collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results.
- Experience in Pediatrics or Community Nursing: 5+ years experience in pediatrics or community nursing is recommended, and previous school nursing experience is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to operate office equipment, and stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 10 pounds.
