About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and book-loving individual to join our team as a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble. As a Bookseller, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for customers, engaging with them, and sharing your knowledge of books to make relevant recommendations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of books, authors, and genres to provide exceptional customer service and make personalized recommendations.
- Ensure a visually appealing and well-organized bookstore by executing bookstore basics, including presentation, commerciality, section detail, localization, and sense of theater.
- Leverage key campaigns, such as Our Monthly Picks and pre-orders, to hand sell and engage with customers.
- Stay up-to-date on books and industry trends to provide customers with a great experience and support the store with your knowledge.
- Identify key titles and communicate with the store team to tailor the merchandise selection to reflect the community's interests.
- Maintain a clean and tidy store, creating displays and ensuring the bookstore is always shoppable and inviting.
- Assist with events and community outreach initiatives.
- Protect company assets by adhering to all processes in controlling shrink, expense, and payroll.
- Model expected behaviors to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Possess a passion for books and a strong knowledge of literature.
- Exhibit a positive and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Enjoy working with people and have excellent communication skills.
- Be energized by working in an ever-changing environment and be able to listen to customers and solve problems effectively.
