Teaching Opportunity at Bronx Charter School for the Arts

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Bronx Charter School for the Arts.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and social growth among our students. You will work closely with colleagues to design and implement individualized instructional plans, utilize developmentally appropriate curricula, and present new ideas and concepts through various strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach clear and engaging lessons that align with the rigorous Common Core curriculum
  • Provide individual or small group instruction for students who require additional support
  • Differentiate instruction for students with special needs
  • Use assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards
  • Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with students and families
  • Participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development
About Us

Bronx Charter School for the Arts is a public K-8 school located in the South Bronx. We foster a culture of creativity and innovation, providing daily arts instruction and integrating arts into our academic curriculum.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred
  • New York State teacher certification in special education
  • Experience teaching math is preferred
  • The ability to create a safe, supported, and challenging learning environment
