As a Controls Engineer II at Sterling Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge automated equipment that revolutionizes industries. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of control system architectures for small to medium-sized automated machines.
  • Program and integrate control systems, robots, vision systems, and various automation components.
  • Ensure electrical designs and software architectures are functional, robust, and cost-effective.
  • Incorporate industry standards, regulatory requirements, and innovative approaches into designs.
  • Research and specify appropriate purchased components and preferred solutions.
  • Drive project delivery and budget performance as a key performance indicator.
  • Create detailed documentation, including electrical schematics, diagrams, layouts, and bills of materials.
  • Participate in design reviews, installations, and service calls as required.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in project execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and electricians, to problem-solve and debug issues.
  • Exhibit objectivity and openness to diverse perspectives while working closely with teams.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in manufacturing, capital equipment engineering, or automation.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and proficient in PLC programming.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
  • Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of robotics, synchronous, and asynchronous systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to meet project deadlines.

Additional Details:

  • Participate in Project Execution Plan meetings and develop control engineering execution plans.
  • Work within project schedules and budgets.
  • Support software validation requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to find functional and economical design solutions
