Job Summary

The Inpatient Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive occupational therapy services to patients within an inpatient rehab/hospital setting. This role involves evaluating patients, developing customized treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough occupational therapy evaluations and plans of care for patients admitted to the inpatient unit, including assessing activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, cognitive and emotional abilities, strength, coordination, and overall functional ability.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Occupational therapy assistants, rehab tech
  • Treatment Planning and Implementation: Create, implement, and modify tailored therapeutic interventions to improve patients' functional abilities and achieve their therapy goals.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide direct occupational therapy services, including self-care retraining, IADL retraining, therapeutic exercises, cognitive retraining, patient and family education, and use of therapeutic modalities as indicated.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient progress, treatment plans, and therapy outcomes in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and speech language pathologists to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
Requirements:
  • Education: Degree (Bachelor, Master or Doctorate) in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Valid Occupational Therapist license in Florida
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred (not required)
