Acute Pain Service Nurse Practitioner

MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology is seeking a dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) to join our Acute Pain Service (APS) team. We welcome applications from nurse practitioners with Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certifications, including new graduates.
Key Responsibilities
The CRNP will collaborate with anesthesia professionals, surgeons, and medical staff to oversee the management of patients experiencing acute and chronic pain within the inpatient environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and perioperative evaluations.
- Prescribing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.
- Managing epidural and peripheral nerve catheters.
- Rounding daily on both new and established patients.
- Obtaining histories and physicals, reviewing diagnostic results, and formulating care plans.
- Writing progress notes and providing education to patients and their families.
- Offering guidance to healthcare team members regarding pain management protocols.
Work Schedule
This full-time position requires in-person attendance, with a Monday through Friday schedule consisting of 8-hour daytime shifts. The role does not include responsibilities during holidays, weekends, or after-hours calls. A comprehensive training program lasting 6-8 weeks is mandatory for all new hires.
