Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary and specialty nursing and medical care to patients in various settings, working under physician oversight as required by state regulation.
  • Function within the scope of practice defined by your specialty certification, BJH medical by-laws, and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Obtain patient history, perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions.
  • Develop and implement patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
  • Manage health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of patient medical records, maintain required reports, records, and statistics.
  • Work in a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to established clinic/hospital standards.
Requirements
  • APN licensure or ability to obtain licensure within three months of hire.
  • Certain certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical decision-making, clinical diagnostics, disease management, Epic EHR, family support, HIPAA compliance, interpersonal communication, patient care, patient education, patient evaluations, patient management, pharmacology, preventive care, teamwork, and time management skills.
