Research Ecologist

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Ecologist to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting and directing research related to quantitative analysis of wildlife ecology, fisheries ecology, or human ecological interactions.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, conduct, and direct research projects related to wildlife ecology, fisheries ecology, or human ecological interactions.
- Conduct research that provides a scientific basis for management and policy decisions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in fish and wildlife ecology, providing leadership and guidance to government and private agencies, and university representatives.
- Disseminate research results through final reports, peer-reviewed scientific journals, and presentations to scientific and conservation organizations.
- Participate in graduate faculty appointments, contributing to research, student advising, mentorship, and teaching missions.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Ecology, Fish Biology, Fisheries Management, Wildlife Biology, or a closely related field of study.
- At least one year of appropriate professional experience in or directly related to the duties of the position, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in Federal service.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative approaches to assess the factors influencing the ecology and management of fish and wildlife populations.
- Experience in conducting applied field research, providing a scientific basis for decisions on management of aquatic or terrestrial natural resources.
