Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a vital healthcare professional who provides critical support to medical staff and delivers exceptional patient care. This role requires a combination of medical knowledge, patient interaction skills, and administrative expertise to ensure efficient and effective healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and nurses in a clinical setting, managing patient information and performing various clinical and administrative tasks.
- Administer medications and record daily medication to patients in state-approved facilities, completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law.
- Order stock medication on an as-needed basis, not to exceed established maximum inventory levels.
- Reconcile daily medications received from pharmacy against faxed order form.
- Distribute ordered medications to their appropriate storage area, ensuring all stock medications are rotated, and all outdated medications are returned to the pharmacy.
- Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care, observing patients and documenting changes in their condition.
- Notify pharmacy of incarcerated individuals' transfers or release.
- Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Follow federal, state, and agency regulations to protect health and that of others.
- Adhere to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.
- Gather samples for analysis.
- Respond to emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify needs and report back to the nursing/HCP team for guidance.
- Proficient with CPR and recognize the need to implement.
- Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and securing of equipment, ensuring equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or relevant qualification.
- A minimum one (1) year experience in emergency or correctional service.
- Must be a certified medical assistant and have completed a medical assistant training program.
- Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.
