Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at UF Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take patients' vital signs and prepare them for examinations or treatments.
  • Assist with patient examinations or treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Perform venipunctures and administer routine, non-controlled medications as directed.
  • Document all entries in the medical record, including signature, date, and time.
  • Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms, and collect routine laboratory specimens as directed.
  • Administer basic first aid and participate in performance improvement projects.
  • Participate as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care and provide a standard of excellence in customer service.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required within 6 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
  • Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
  • 1 year of medical assisting experience preferred, or 2 years of clerical/customer service experience in a healthcare-related industry.
