About the Position

This Network Specialist I (Cable Plant) position involves working with the NSWC PCD Enterprise Architect to design, install, and maintain the NSWC PCD networks infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cable infrastructure and be able to lead intermediate, junior, and entry-level Network Specialists for short-term configuration and deployment projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement cable infrastructure solutions for the Naval Surface Warfare Command.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex network issues.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to junior Network Specialists.
  • Lead intermediate, junior, and entry-level Network Specialists for short-term configuration and deployment projects.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of related experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cable plant complete copper and fiber optic subsystems deployed to transmit electrical and optical signals between active communication equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Visio and network diagramming.
