Position Overview: The Audiologist will deliver specialized audiological services to designated educational institutions and their students. This role involves conducting comprehensive assessments to identify educational requirements and tailoring specific programs and placements accordingly. Collaboration with local referral sources and community resources is essential to fulfill the role's objectives. The Audiologist will analyze assessment data to offer guidance to educational staff and parents, introducing necessary therapeutic interventions for students.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to requests for audiological services.
- Review information from various sources regarding student audiological performance and suggest suitable interventions.
- Administer and interpret audiological assessments, providing detailed written reports.
- Observe students in educational settings for diagnostic and intervention purposes.
- Conduct interviews with students, parents, and educational staff to gather comprehensive information on individual cases.
- Design, implement, and evaluate therapeutic and instructional interventions tailored to student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and IEP team members to support the implementation of IEP goals.
- Deliver aural rehabilitation therapy for students with hearing impairments.
- Conduct school-based hearing screenings in partnership with health authorities.
- Prepare written reports based on audiological assessments and develop recommendations.
- Facilitate referrals to available resources within the educational system and the broader community.
- Consult with stakeholders to develop therapeutic instructional goals and strategies.
- Assist in adapting curriculum and teaching practices for students with special needs.
- Provide training and support to educational staff and the community.
- Maintain documentation for Medicaid reimbursement and case management.
- Participate in meetings concerning students with special needs.
- Ensure compliance with mandated services and stay informed on relevant regulations.
- Promote equal employment and nondiscrimination policies in all activities.
- Master's degree in Audiology from an accredited institution.
- Current Audiology license or eligibility for licensure and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- In-depth knowledge of child development and therapeutic interventions for children with hearing impairments.
- Familiarity with applicable federal laws and regulations in educational settings.
- Strong skills in audiological assessment techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with students, parents, and educational staff.
- Proficiency in technical applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Reliable transportation is required.
