Job Overview

Position Title: Civil Litigation Paralegal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Hourly

Department: Litigation
Employment Status: Full-time; Hybrid

The Civil Litigation Paralegal will undertake a variety of substantive legal responsibilities under the guidance of attorneys within the Litigation practice group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organize document-heavy files from the initiation of cases to their resolution.
  • Conduct thorough factual investigations and interviews to pinpoint essential parties, pertinent issues, and relevant documents for discovery preparation.
  • Review electronic discovery materials for production.
  • Analyze production documents, including responses to interrogatories and requests for document production, ensuring accuracy in electronically stored information.
  • Coordinate deposition schedules for parties as requested by attorneys.
  • Summarize and structure depositions, records, medical documents, and testimonies using litigation support technology.
  • Draft various legal pleadings and filings for civil litigation at both Federal and State levels.
  • Assist in all phases of litigation, including trial preparation, by identifying and marking exhibits for motions, position papers, mediation depositions, and trial.
  • Verify the validity and accuracy of case citations in briefs through legal research tools.
  • Interact with government and court officials, as well as clients.
  • Maintain attorney calendars to track case deadlines.
  • Support trial proceedings with exhibits, demonstrative aids, and witnesses.
  • Keep accurate timesheets and adhere to firm deadlines as per company policies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with experts to gather key data, reports, and supporting documents.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED is required; a four-year degree or certificate in paralegal studies is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in litigation and the capability to manage complex cases using modern technology.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly in the MS Office Suite.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and excellent proofreading abilities are essential.
