The Physical Therapy Assistant is a proficient technical professional who executes direct patient care tasks under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer physical therapy interventions to patients in accordance with the treatment protocols established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Support the Physical Therapist during assessments, evaluations, and intricate treatment procedures.
- Monitor, document, and communicate to the therapist any changes in patient conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned responsibilities.
- Keep accurate daily records of treatments and document progress notes on patients as instructed by the therapist.
- Assist with the initial screening of new admissions.
- Collaborate with the therapist in discussions with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Contribute to the upkeep of the physical therapy department and its equipment.
- Support the Physical Therapist in conducting in-service training sessions and other meetings as required.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities relevant to your role to maintain professional competency.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Possess a current license or be eligible for licensure in accordance with state regulations.
- Preferred experience in a setting catering to a similar demographic of patients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including legible handwriting, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to comprehend and adhere to the directives of the Physical Therapist and the operational policies of the facility.
