Overview
Responsible for overseeing teams engaged in road construction activities, including asphalt, bridge work, and general maintenance, while operating specialized heavy machinery. Ensures proper traffic control measures are implemented on job sites to maintain safe working conditions. May provide assistance during emergency situations. Upholds all safety regulations and standards throughout the work process, including the use of safety gear.

Key Responsibilities
Leads, trains, and supports team members in executing road construction tasks. Monitors crew performance to ensure adherence to specifications and quality benchmarks. Organizes, assigns, and coordinates workflow effectively, tracking both qualitative and quantitative outcomes.

Operates a variety of specialized construction machinery, which may include:
- Milling machines
- Excavators
- Rollers
- Cranes
- Trenchers
- Backhoes
These machines are utilized for tasks such as breaking ground, moving dirt and rock, spreading materials, loading trucks, excavating trenches, resurfacing streets, and performing other related duties.

Job Coordination
Plans and coordinates job activities and traffic control to ensure timely and efficient service delivery. Assists in maintaining an inventory of supplies and materials necessary for operations.

Performs minor repairs and adjustments to equipment in the field and submits regular reports on the operational status of machinery for preventive maintenance purposes. May also assist with the upkeep of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems. Proposes and implements procedural improvements as needed. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited high school or GED program.

A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in operating heavy machinery, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role as an Equipment Operator III or IV.

Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record. Compliance with local regulations regarding driving history is required.

Must uphold a satisfactory driving record and adhere to applicable local codes and regulations. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, with ongoing random drug and alcohol testing during employment. Capable of interpreting plans, setting grades, finishing road sections, and executing blue top cuts. Demonstrates effective supervisory skills.

Physical requirements include prolonged periods of kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry over 100 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to work in diverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.) and operate equipment safely and efficiently.
