Overview

The Cancer Support Community (CSC) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Oncology Program Director to lead our Washington, D.C. location.

About the Role

This leadership position plays a vital role in supporting individuals impacted by cancer in the DMV region. As an Oncology Program Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all clinical programs and services at CSC DC. This includes supervising clinical staff, participating in direct service, and fostering relationships with other organizations that diagnose, treat, and support cancer patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise CSC DC Program staff, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and program guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and manage all psychosocial, clinical programs, and services for CSC DC, including support groups, educational programs, social events, and healthy lifestyle programs within budgeted guidelines.
  • Utilize clinical skills to manage and guide programs, addressing barriers to care by providing individualized assistance and personalized support to patients, survivors, and families.
  • Maintain contact with CSC Research and CSC Policy and Advocacy teams, and networks regularly with program staff at other CSC/Gilda's Clubs sites.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, and adjust accordingly, based on quarterly data and collaboration with the Executive Director.
Requirements

To be successful as an Oncology Program Director, you will need:

  • A clinical license in Washington, D.C. and ideally in Virginia and Maryland too; licensure in all three will be required after hire.
  • At least three to five years of non-profit or social services-based oncology patient support experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience networking within the DMV medical/oncology market.
  • Possesses a service mindset, effective time management, and leadership skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving capacities, and flexibility.
Benefits

CSC offers a competitive salary range of $87,000 - $127,000, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including medical, prescription, vision, and dental coverage, paid vacation and sick time, short-term and long-term disability insurance, flex spending accounts, life insurance, and optional participation in an employee-contribution retirement plan with employer match.
