Position Overview

The role of a Pourer at Waukesha Foundry involves critical tasks related to the metal casting process. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to ensure high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pouring Operations:
    • Ensure correct weight and clamp placement according to mold specifications prior to pouring.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of sprue and risers, ensuring they are clear of debris.
    • Interpret master sheets for specific requirements and instructions.
    • Utilize proper pouring techniques, maintaining an even stream and appropriate pour height.
    • Effectively remove gas during the pouring process.
    • Apply hot topping and heat tags post-pour.
    • Remove clamps and weights once the material has cooled.
  • Ladle Maintenance:
    • Safely place ladles on preheaters and ignite as necessary.
    • Perform repairs or replacements of ladle linings, including safety liners.
    • Fabricate ceramic pots for hand shanks.
  • General Duties:
    • Operate hoists and forklifts safely.
    • Comprehend and utilize master sheets and measuring devices.
    • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
    • Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Skills: Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to read and interpret shop documentation.

Abilities: Capability to use direct reading and fixed gauges, work with percentages and decimals, and obtain forklift certification.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in elevated temperature conditions.

Work Environment: Typical foundry conditions.
