Position Overview

You will function as a Manufacturing Engineer within the Energetics Production Division of the Naval Sea Systems Command. This role is integral to the development and execution of engineering projects related to energetics manufacturing.

Salary Range

The compensation for this position is structured within two pay bands:
  • ND-03: $61,933 - $107,590
  • ND-04: $82,764 - $153,354

Eligibility Criteria

This position is available to:

Key Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Engineer, your duties will include:
  • Conducting project engineering tasks, including the formulation of cost estimates and planning project implementation.
  • Drafting and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Creating engineering solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Communicating project outcomes for complex initiatives through presentations and written reports.
  • Providing support to the manufacturing team.
  • Regularly reporting to the designated duty location, with potential for occasional telework.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be deemed suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.
  • Compliance with security clearance requirements is necessary.

Qualifications

To qualify for the ND-04 level, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-03 level, which includes:
  • Applying engineering principles to assess and coordinate technical and quality requirements for production projects.
  • Evaluating technologies to enhance manufacturing processes for ordnance or energetic materials.

For the ND-03 level, candidates must show at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-02 level, which includes:
  • Utilizing engineering theories and practices to develop and coordinate technical requirements for production projects.

Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess a professional engineering degree from an accredited institution or meet other specified educational criteria. This includes:
  • Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) is also acceptable.
