Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team at Wabtec Corporation. As a key member of our Services Division, you will be responsible for assembling fabricated parts, components, or units at floor stations. You will test and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble units according to product specifications using mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assembly techniques, as well as welding, electrical wiring, and hitching on overhead cranes and jibs.
  • Test and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
  • Identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
  • Interface with engineering to accurately communicate information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5+ years in custom build shop preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to operate a computer to read and input data.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics to complete standard work.
Physical Demands
  • Employee is required to wear appropriate PPE such as steel toe boots and safety glasses.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climb.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
