Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to join our team at NV Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of updates, modifications, and enhancements to the payroll functionality of our human resources information technology applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extract, maintain, and reconcile payroll data for the completion of payroll tax filings, tax payments, and regulatory reports.
  • Process the biweekly payroll, including running all audit reports and resolving any errors.
  • Create the direct deposit file, the child support file, and the positive pay file, and upload all files to the bank through the Wells Fargo portal.
  • Calculate all federal, state, and local tax payments, ensuring timely and accurate payments are made through the Wells Fargo Portal.
  • Balance all federal, state, and local wages and taxes on a biweekly basis.
  • Review and reconcile payroll tax data and complete assigned payroll tax filings.
  • Extract and analyze data to respond to internal and external requests and to complete regulatory filings and reports.
  • Provide payroll report training to other payroll employees.
  • Research and analyze payroll issues and assist in the development of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Update payroll documentation and provide guidance to other staff as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison to accounting, treasury, and payroll customers to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting or related field from an accredited school and 6 or more years of related experience with 5 years of related experience in multi-state payroll administration or human resources information systems.
  • Candidates that do not possess a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with 5 years of experience in multi-state payroll administration or human resources information systems.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of accounting to reconcile and balance payroll and tax accounts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to develop payroll accounting processes and complete payroll tax filings.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, identifying key causes, and workable solutions skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in creating spreadsheets and databases and extracting information from the human resources/payroll, time entry, and general ledger systems.
  • Demonstrated communication, attention to detail, customer service, and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent Excel skills, including V-lookups, formulas, pivot tables, etc.
  • Demonstrated payroll knowledge – particularly in Nevada.
  • Oracle Fusion payroll and/or OTL experience.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Compensation

$31.88 (Min) to $37.50 (Mid) per hour; Up to 10% Short Term Incentive Plan opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
