Job Title: SOAR Specialist

Job Summary:

The SOAR Specialist is a critical member of our team, responsible for providing support and advocacy to individuals experiencing homelessness who have serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorder. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the SOAR program and its benefits, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assess client eligibility for SOAR services and provide support in completing applications.
2. Collaborate with clients' current and former providers to obtain necessary supporting documentation.
3. Assist clients in filing for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) benefits.
4. Provide advocacy and support to clients throughout the benefits appeal process.
5. Work with clients to develop crisis WRAP plans and provide education on symptom management and conflict resolution.
6. Assist clients with budget development and budget management.
7. Attend training and certification programs as required by the state.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a human service field or four years of equivalent education and/or experience working in the human services field.
• Computer literacy and experience working with electronic timesheets and other software.
• Valid Kansas driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Ability to work in non-traditional settings and unstructured environments.
• Knowledge of SOAR techniques and benefits.

The SOAR Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, providing support and advocacy to clients in a variety of settings. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
