Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Genesee County, Michigan. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional animal care and support services to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Veterinarians in the oversight and primary care of animals under our care.
- Monitor animals and notify Veterinarians of any changes in medical status.
- Administer vaccinations and oversee the vaccination process for animals.
- Facilitate the ordering and use of controlled substances.
- Implement training programs for staff on the use and documentation of controlled substances.
- Assist in determining the appropriateness of animal cruelty charges and make recommendations to the Prosecutor's Office.
- Participate as a witness in animal-related matters.
- Complete medical notes and paperwork as required.
- Assist in providing vaccination services for Rabies clinics.
- Make determinations on treatment or euthanasia of animals.
- Train staff in euthanasia procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or animal science from an AVMA-approved program.
- Licensed by the State of Michigan as a Veterinarian Technician.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or animal science from an AVMA-approved program.
- Two years' experience as a Veterinarian Technician.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions in high-stress situations. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor while interacting with individuals and animals.
