Position Summary
We are in search of a proficient Construction Manager to oversee the entirety of construction activities related to telecommunications and wireless initiatives. This position entails vendor selection, on-site supervision, and collaboration with subcontractors, OEM installers, and client representatives. The Construction Manager will serve as the authority on construction matters concerning the erection/modification of towers, collocation, DAS, and small cell projects, including in-building iDAS and public right-of-way oDAS & Small Cells, along with related inside and outside plant construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and influence decisions for District and/or Program and Project Managers regarding all construction-related activities.
- Engage actively in the vendor selection process and offer informed recommendations.
- Participate in deployment and customer meetings as a subject matter expert.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to encourage service work allocation to the company.
- Conduct regular site inspections throughout construction phases, including bid walks, pre-construction assessments, ongoing site evaluations, punch walks, and project closeout.
- Direct general contractors during groundwork operations.
- Ensure competitive pricing for quality workmanship, negotiate costs within project parameters, and hold vendors accountable for budget adherence.
- Address on-site challenges and provide recommendations based on urgency and necessity.
- Guarantee compliance with company construction standards, processes, and protocols.
- Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation and ensure timely distribution of closeout materials per corporate and client standards.
- Ensure accuracy in the project tracking system.
- Act as a safety observer and Quality Assurance representative, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and workmanship standards.
Education and Certifications
- High School diploma required.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Experience and Minimum Requirements
- At least three (3) years of experience in telecommunications/wireless construction.
- Familiarity with Outside Plant Construction techniques (both aerial and underground) for SCS.
- Understanding of testing equipment and methods for RF Sweep tests, OTDR, Power Meter, and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing for SCS.
- Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, and OSHA regulations.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in budget development and management.
- Understanding of the construction management process.
- Knowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting processes.
- Ability to interpret and understand blueprints.
- Capability to identify workflow issues, determine critical paths, and implement solutions.
- Strong customer service focus with a problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and project management software.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this contract position ranges from $40 to $50 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay structure is determined by role, level, and location, with individual compensation influenced by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
