Job Title: Truck Driver

Join CMC Steel Fabricators as a Truck Driver and embark on a rewarding career in the steel industry. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering products to customers, contractors, and jobsites throughout our geographic region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately complete delivery paperwork and communicate with production, sales, and customers to resolve issues with loads and delivery times.
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following safety rules and regulations, including proper wearing of company PPE.
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and comply with state regulations.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly loaded and secured, and products are delivered safely and timely.
  • Inspect vehicles for safety and operational defects using DOT, maintenance, and safety checklists, and ensure emergency equipment is in proper working order.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Load trucks, which may require securing chains across the width of a trailer to secure the product, tarping of loads on trailers, and dropping and hooking a trailer.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License required.
  • Minimum 1 year verifiable tractor/trailer experience required (3 years flatbed hauling over-the-road experience preferred).
  • Ability to pass a company road test.
  • No violation for careless, negligent, or reckless operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle in the previous 3 years.
  • No DUI or DWI within the last 5 years.
  • No felony involving the use of a Commercial Motor Vehicle in the previous 3 years.
  • Frequent physical activity, including walking, climbing stairs/ladders, working with chains, and performing inspections.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including heat and cold weather.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be willing to learn and tackle new challenges.
  • Must have effective listening and verbal skills to identify important information and engage with internal and external customers.
  • Must speak and understand English language in verbal communication.
