Machinist Technician

Job Summary

Collins & Jewell Company seeks a skilled Trades Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for producing compliant machined parts using manual and CNC machining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, including machine drawing details and symbols, welding symbols, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Operate manual and CNC lathes and milling machines, selecting the appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
• Plan the proper sequence of tasks and operations to complete the job, including tool selection and planning of fixturing, setups, and work holding.
• Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary, and use precision measuring tools to evaluate conformity to job requirements.
• Document objective quality evidence as required and identify the need for and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintain a safe and clean workstation, watching out for the safety of coworkers, and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly.
• Take direction effectively from shop foremen and managers, ask appropriate questions, and maintain a positive attitude.

Ancillary Duties

• Participate in manufacturing operations as needed through the safe and effective use of band saws, magnetic drills, shear, press brake, CNC plasma table, ironworker, grinders, and painting equipment.
• Move materials safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts, etc.
• Ability to stand, twist, bend, kneel, climb, pull, and push greater than 75 pounds for long periods of time.
• Use basic hand tools, such as tape measures, squares, levels, drills, clamps, hammers, etc.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Vocational training, including a certificate or diploma in machining, required.
• Some experience may be substituted for vocational training.
